Just back home from my trip to China (I promise I won’t mention it again…), Element Europe rider Gauthier Rouger, swung by my place in Basel while on his way to an és trip to France. Since it was raining we only got to skate under the covered entrance of the train station. Looks like Gauthier enjoyed it!
Our three weeks Chinese mission is over. It was definitely a rewarding experience. Once again, meeting the people was the best part for me. The people in China were friendly, curious and always smiling and polite. While we were skating on the streets, people were saying “hello” to us, smiling at us and waiting for us to smile back! Over here in Europe it would be more like a “get out of my way” type of yell. Our crew was also pretty interesting, it consisted of Michael and Florian Bodenhammer from Berlin, Bastien Duverdier, Mathieu Dupuis and Kévin Métallier (the photographer) from the Southwest of France and myself the fat filmer. We all had our own plans and expectations for the trip but we all got along pretty well. I would especially like to thank Owen Liu for showing us around Hong Kong and Macao and Mister Mike Lu who took care of us while on our journey around Gui Lin and the Li river. Thanks!
Michael was skating hard the whole time and he got some really good stuff for the full length video, pretty much a part. Here is a little remix of all the leftover clips I posted here on the blog during our trip. The better material will be seen in “Travel Well” … very soon!

From Hong Kong we took a ferry boat to the Island of Macao. Since it was a Portuguese colony there is a little taste of Portugal over there which made us feel back home in Europe for a minute. From what I have seen, it now mostly consists of luxury hotels, casinos and skyscrapers which means lots of interesting spots to skate… or to get kicked out of. Here are a few tricks from that day!
On our way back from Guilin to Hongkong we made a quick stop in Shenzhen again to get a few more stuff done. We got kicked out of every spots that day, at least five times. I even got kicked out for sitting on some stairs that day… We are done in Shenzhen. Hongkong and Macao are our next stops!
Here is a clip of Michael getting the line and the boot… or the boot and the line.
